Revenue Model - News, Web Development

Thank you for taking the time to hear my struggles. As you know my name is Darin Patrick Codon and I am a native of Los Angeles, California.

Prior to my arrival in Missouri I worked in high-tech. My specialty is interactive marketing and at the turn of the century I was one of the top five interactive advertising buyers in the world. My work involved strategy development and media purchasing for Packard Bell, NEC and Zenith Data Systems.

My work today combines publishing content for a mass audience, mainly over the Internet but my content has been featured by the Springfield News-Leader, St. Louis Dispatch, Kansas City Star, FOX, Branson Daily Independent, Branson Daily News, Taney County Times, Stone County Gazette, KRZK, KOMC the Vacation Channel and hundreds of Internet based news sites..

KY3 Inc,. publishes my data without attribution. I note this media outlet specifically due to their financial arrangements with Branson's public officials.

In Branson, I've generated over 10,000 digital assets as a public information service. In return of publishing data vital to the regional and state news outlets,I benefit from my broad reach and mass use of the services i provide to the public.

At peak capacity I can reach 2 out of 3 residents of Branson with a blog post and journalists from news outlets throughout the state who utilize my services as a wholesale information source.

My business model relies on open-government policies and my ablility to broadcast video, audio and photo and written news content. The frequency of broadcasting news stories is a tremendous variable in my business.

My materials have also been used free of charge for public officials and my documentation is used by professors at local universities as teaching materials.

In addition, I'm referenced by the state for my collaboration with liberating data for Missouri offices.

I frequently perform services as a media buyer, freelance writer and website development.

In brief, public access to data is my most valuable asset and three variables affect my ability to generate users:

1. Legal right to information (legislation)

2. Competitive Market (subsidization of competition) I'm required by law to inform KY3inc. before I document court proceedings,

3. Taxes and Fees. (overpricing) On friday, the City of Branson demanded over $86,000 to publish an annual police blotter

The first issue I'd like to address is number three if you have time to look at it with me. On Friday, Missouri's Attorney General's Office asked me for a breakdown of costs. Specifically, the city asks for $468.00 for two days of records.
